Initial testing on a diesel engine has begun on the proof-of-concept fuel injector.  The engine is a 9L John Deere six-cylinder diesel engine mounted in an engine test cell.  A single test injector is installed in a cylinder instrumented to measure the time rate of change of pressure.  The remaining cylinders are OEM stock.

The continuous controllability of the Great Plains Diesel Technologies electro-mechanical actuator is being integrated with the engine's characteristics to show much better control over heat release rates.  Pilot injection(s) followed by targeted heat release rate shapes is the final goal.

Results so far have proven that the injector A) works on an engine and B) offers new levels of control over an injection event.

Test continues the first week of November, 2015.
